How to Choose the Best P365 Holster

How to Choose the Best P365 Holster

If you’ve recently purchased a SIG Sauer P365 for concealed or open carry, you need to find a suitable holster for your weapon. A high-quality holster is one of the most important accessories you can own for a handgun, but not all holsters are alike. Let’s review the features you should look for in a P365 holster.

The Best SIG P365 Holster

When searching for the best holster for SIG P365 handguns, you’ll need to account for the variant. SIG Sauer manufactures four variants of the P365: The Micro Compact, SAS, X, and XL. While there’s only a minimal difference between the first two, holsters for the latter two may not be interchangeable.

Sig Sauer P365 Holster

The following holsters meet the necessary criteria for a safe, reliable holster, from retention and a covered trigger guard to adjustability and comfort.

Kydex Holsters

Introduced in 1966, Kydex is a poly-vinyl-chloride thermoplastic used by holster and sheath manufacturers. Available in various colors and configurations, Kydex is versatile, strong, rigid and resistant to the elements. If you need a holster that can withstand impact, abrasion, and moisture, Kydex is an excellent choice. However, Kydex is not as soft or pliable as some alternatives, such as leather.

Colors and Patterns

At We The People Holsters, we offer our Kydex holsters in solid colors, such as black, tan, aqua, gray, pink, and orange.

If you’re interested in realistic woodland camouflage patterns, you can choose Realtree EDGE®, MAX-5® Camo, and Advantage Classic® Camo, among other options. This enables you to match your holster to your clothing for the most discreet carry possible.

Kydex IWB: P365 Micro Compact

The SIG Sauer P365 Micro Compact is the most well-known variant of the P365 series of handguns. It’s designed specifically for concealed carry.

SAS

The P365 SAS, or Anti Snag SIG, is almost identical to the Micro Compact. The only difference is the height. By replacing the traditional front and rear iron sights with the FT Bullseye sighting system, SIG reduced the height by ”. However, this difference should not affect holster interchangeability between the two pistols.

Our Kydex holsters are incredibly thin — only 2mm (0.08”) — ensuring a low profile design.

Sig P365 Holster

This design complements inside-the-waistband (IWB) carry and the compact design of the MC and SAS pistols. Using a single adjustable belt clip, you can choose from eight different positions for the ride height and cant for the most comfortable, accessible, and well-concealed daily carry.

The tuckable belt clips allow you to tuck your shirt into your pants over the Micro Compact for deep concealment. When you need access to your weapon, simply pull your shirt up to expose the holster and perform your draw. The Micro Compact and SAS are only 5.8” in length, 1” in width, and 4.1–4.3” in height — perfect for a tuckable IWB holster.

Kydex IWB and OWB: P365 X and XL

The SIG P365 X and XL have different dimensions from the Micro Compact. You’ll need to select a holster specifically thermoformed or hand-molded for these weapons. The XL is heavier and longer than the MC and X, providing increased controllability while remaining compact and concealable.

The X and XL can accept 12-round flush-fit magazines by using a different grip module. This increases the magazine capacity, but it also increases the height and tendency to print. Consider adding a claw if you’re interested in carrying either the X or XL variants IWB. This keeps the holster close to your body to reduce printing. You’ll also be able to set the claw depth using two interchangeable pads.

Concealed carry isn’t limited to inside-the-waistband holsters, however. The traditional belt holster is OWB (outside the waistband) and, depending on how you dress, can also be effective for concealment. Our Kydex OWB holsters use a paddle clip to attach to the gun belt for a secure but easily detachable option.

If you own a P365 X or XL with a manual safety catch, you should also ensure that your holster allows you to disengage the safety as you draw the weapon. Our IWB and OWB holsters are cut to accommodate safety catches while providing a full sweat shield.

Modular Freedom Holster

In addition to specialized IWB and OWB holsters, we also offer a highly modular and configurable holster platform that we call Freedom, reflecting the flexibility it affords. You can choose from 2,500 possible configurations in either IWB or OWB in the same holster. Ambidextrous, tuckable, and versatile, you can also combine the holster with a magazine carrier for increased firepower.

P365 X and XL Romeo Zero

The SIG P365X and XL variants are available with an optic or slide cut for attaching red-dot sights. Whether you need a Kydex holster for self-defense or competitive target shooting, we offer holsters cut for the SIG P365 when equipped with a Romeo Zero RDS.

Leather IWB and OWB Holsters

At We The People Holsters, we’ve traditionally supplied Kydex holsters for handguns, from Beretta and CZ to SIG. Recently, we introduced a leather holster line, the Independence.

Eliciting the expertise of a 20-year United States Navy veteran and professional craftsman, we developed two holster types: One in IWB and another in OWB. Both holsters are vegetable-tanned full-grain cowhide leather, employ a rigid dual-layer shell, and feature reinforced stitching.

Comfortable fit

While Kydex is rigid and durable, some gun owners prefer leather for tactile and functional reasons. Leather is generally softer and quieter to draw from when compared with thermoplastic and can be more comfortable to wear for extended periods.

Audible click vs. quiet reholstering

In leather holsters, both the draw and the re-holster are relatively quiet. There’s an audible click in Kydex holsters, which provides feedback regarding retention.

Adjustable retention

Both our Kydex and leather holsters use adjustable, passive retention. If you need to draw your SIG P365 quickly, you can simply pull it upward — there’s no need to depress a button or lever.

Independence IWB

The IWB Independence holster uses two tuckable belt clips to stabilize your SIG on your gun belt at two widely spaced points. A leather IWB holster can improve the comfort of daily carry for those who don’t care for the feel of Kydex against the skin.

As leather can chafe against wet skin, it’s advisable to wear a thin layer between the IWB holster and your body.

Independence OWB

In the OWB configuration, the Independence P365 holster substitutes two belt loops: One 1.5” integral loop and one PVC-coated ballistic-nylon loop that attaches using two snap closures. The OWB holster also features a tail fin to wrap the holster around your hip or waist for a snug fit.
