Regardless if you’re a first time gun owner or an avid firearms enthusiast chances are you’ve seen or at least heard of people hanging their guns on walls. But how do you build a gun wall to display your guns? In this article we’ll break down what a gun wall is, why gun walls are so popular, and if the Gallow Technologies gun wall system is worth it.
What is a gun wall?
As the name implies, a gun wall is a wall designed for showcasing firearms and other tactical related accessories. Typically speaking, a Gun wall is going to feature some sort of modular hanging system with hooks for all of your gear and a multitude of mounting options so that you can configure it to your liking. Typically speaking, Gun walls are going to be made of either metal or wood and can come in pretty much any color that you need. For our particular instance we chose the Gallow Technologies gun wall system in their gray finish.
Unboxing the Gallow Technologies Gun Wall.
When we got the kit it was pretty straight forward. After evaluating all of our options, we decided to go with one of their pre configured packages. This meant that we only had to order one item from the website and it gave us all the brackets, beauty covers, hooks and hangers, and anything else that we could want in one easy to purchase package. Ordering the kit was a breeze, and once it showed up I couldn’t help but be like a kid in a candy store as I opened up all the boxes and laid everything out. Included in the kit are the top starter rails for beginning to hang your panels, the hooks for hanging your guns, the magnetic beauty covers that snap onto the top and bottom to cover the screw holes and make the whole thing look nice, and of course, the actual flat lay wall panels themselves.
What Makes Gallow Technologies Different From Other Gun Walls?
It's important to note here that these wall panels aren’t your standard peg board you get from your local home depot. We’re talking steel panels that are cut with this sort of almost Key mod pattern in them that works flawlessly with the Gallow Technologies bracket system and basically makes your gun wall as configurable as one could imagine. In fact, the tolerances on the machining here are so tight that there were a few times I actually had to tap the hangers down every so slightly with a hammer just to get them to sit at home in the slots on the wall.
Our Thoughts:
Overall the install was pretty straight forward. We did end up having a few issues when we mounted it, but that’s only because we mounted this gun wall on an old brick wall. For your average consumer who's going to mount this system on a drywall wall in their home or office install should be a breeze and even with all of the shenanigans that I had to do with this brick wall it still only took a few hours. One MAJOR thing to keep in mind is that if you’re installing this gun wall in a room where it's close to another perpendicular wall, make sure you leave at least an inch or two of install space between the wall and where you start the panels so that you can properly slide the panels into place where they belong.
Overall the build quality on this setup is incredible and we love it so much that we’ve actually ordered another set of panels so that we can double our gun wall size.
