How to Cut Your Ratcheting Gun Belt for a Perfect Fit

  1. Feed the belt through the loops of pants - ideally the same type of pants you intend to wear the belt with. Pull your pants up to where you normally wear them. Feed the end of the belt through the buckle and equip any firearm accessories you would want to wear with the belt. Then pull until the belt feels comfortably snug.
  2. Measure from the end of the belt that was pulled through the buckle to the first pant loop. Write this measurement down as this is the amount we are going to cut off the other end of the belt. (Tip: Leave extra material so the belt still goes through the first belt loop and is secure against your body.)
  3. To unclamp the buckle from the belt, lift the tab on the back of the buckle, allowing you to remove the belt from the clamp.
  4. Use the measurement you got on step 3. Measure from the square end you just removed from the buckle and create a mark at the end of your measurement. Use sharp scissors and cut through the belt at the marked spot. (Tip: In the words of your old shop teacher. “Measure twice, cut once.“)
  5. To clean up the cut edge and prevent fraying. Heat up the edge with a lighter and melt the fibers locking them in place. DO NOT light the plastic on fire as this will emit toxic fumes that cause or are suspected of causing cancer, birth defects, or other serious harms.
  6. Slide the buckle onto the cut end of the belt and press the tab firmly clamping the buckle down onto the belt locking it into place, your belt is ready to wear!
